Project Summary

The Fairlawn Avenue Bridge project involves replacing the existing bridge with a new three-lane continuous structure, approximately 270 feet long, providing a 40-foot-wide roadway and a 6-foot-wide sidewalk. The bridge is a critical artery connecting Fair Lawn and Paterson across the Passaic River.

Tri-State Work Summary

Tri-State installed 56 vertical and battered micropiles to support the new bridge’s east abutment. Tri-State also successfully performed a compressive load test that substantiated the design load of the micropiles.

The site challenges included maneuvering the drill rig and equipment in limited space between the remnant abutment and the river, and maintaining the battered angle and pile location when drilling through obstructions.
