Tieback and Tiedown Anchors
Tieback and Tiedown anchors consist of either high strength strand tendons or high strength threadbar components, with an unbonded zone and a bonded zone, installed in a grouted hole. These anchors can achieve high loads based on the ground conditions and if bedrock is present. Both types of anchors can be used in a temporary or permanent application. A temporary anchor is typically constructed as single corrosion protection consisting of bare tendons and grout cover. A permanent anchor is typically constructed as double corrosion protected consisting of either epoxy coating of the tendon and hardware or HDPE and grout encapsulation of the tendon. Permanent applications can vary but typically the tendon and the hardware provide additional corrosion protection. These anchors can be used in many applications such as retaining walls, taking lateral loads on foundation walls, uplift for foundations resulting from groundwater or wind loads and dam tiedown anchors.
