Micropiles
A micropile is a small diameter, high strength deep foundation element used to transfer structural loads to a deeper, more competent soil stratum below. Micropiles can be installed in limited access areas due to the equipment options available. A micropile will typically have the casing remain in place and a bond zone is created in the lower soil stratum. This is performed by casing the hole to full depth, grout the micropile and install reinforcing, then remove a portion of the casing, building the bond zone. This allows the micropile to achieve high axial, tension and lateral loads.
MiniCaissons
A minicaisson is a small diameter, high strength deep foundation element used to transfer structural loads to a deeper bedrock stratum. Minicaissons can be installed in limited access areas due to the equipment options available. A minicaisson will typically have the casing remain in place and a bond zone is created in the lower bedrock stratum. The rock socket can be video inspected and in some areas this will eliminate the need for load testing. This allows the minicaisson to achieve high axial, tension and lateral loads.
