Soil Nail Wall

A soil nail wall is a form of SOE and can be used as temporary support as well as permanent support. A soil nail wall is a top-down constructed system that begins with an initial 5’-0” excavation. This excavation is shotcreted and then soil nails are installed, cured and tested. This process will repeat until subgrade elevation is reached. All soil nail walls are constructed with a vertical drainage system behind the shotcrete which works well in both temporary and permanent applications. The advantages of a soil nail wall are typically a faster schedule compared to a conventional SOE system and a cost advantage. A soil nail wall used in a permanent application can also accept a finished facing which can be colored, stained and sculpted to replicate rock formations, architectural treatments or resemble a cast-in-place wall.
