Project Summary

Tri-State Work Summary
Our project began with NYCDEP Dewatering Permit acquisition. Once all permits were in place, we installed the dewatering system and turned the pumps on. Due to the silty clay materials in the ground, the only way to create a safe and workable excavation was to use sump pumps, and the size of the project (multiple acres) required the use of roughly 30 sumps, running simultaneously with two sets of operators running 24 hours a day, seven days a week for over a year. We maintained a system of four Settling Tanks and multiple Bag Filter Skids to ensure the silts, fines and caisson spoils were not discharged into the public sewer system which was particularly difficult due to the heavy rain events throughout the life of the project.
