Scope

Tri-State provided specialized deep well dewatering services for the 4 Hudson Square Disney Headquarters development in New York City.

Tri-State Work Summary

Tri-State Civil Construction installed and operated a total of nine deep wells to support the dewatering operations for the 4 Hudson Square development. As excavation progressed to depths exceeding 60 feet, the wells were strategically lowered and adjusted as necessary to maintain effective groundwater control throughout all phases of construction. Pumping systems were continuously monitored and modified to meet changing site conditions and project demands.

The project commenced with the successful acquisition of the required NYCDEP Dewatering Permit, allowing dewatering activities to proceed in accordance with regulatory requirements. Throughout the project, several challenges were encountered, including restricted site access, secant wall leakage, damaged wells and header piping, and unforeseen subsurface conditions that resulted in increased wear on drilling and excavation equipment.

Despite these complexities, Tri-State demonstrated exceptional responsiveness and adaptability, proactively addressing evolving site conditions while minimizing impacts to the project schedule. Through effective problem-solving, continuous coordination, and a commitment to quality execution, the dewatering system remained operational and reliable throughout construction, enabling the excavation to progress efficiently while meeting the client's expectations.
